For Buyers

About The Buying Process

SD Ag Wetland Mitigation Banking provides opportunities for producers to purchase credits to either gain compliance or remain in compliance with the Food & Security Act’s Swampbuster program. Credits are made made available to potential purchasers wanting to buy them. One credit is equivalent to one acre.

How to Buy a Credit

The South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) works with those who have available credits to sell them to landowners and/or farmers in the same service area who would like to purchase them. The price of the credit is set between the seller and buyer, with SDFB acting as a facilitator. As credits become available, SDFB will update the credit map for buyers to monitor availability in their area. If you would like to be alerted when new credits become available, fill out the form in the credit map or speak with a team member.
